Señora María de Satode Penasco

María was born 1889 in Spain. She married Victor de Satode Penasco in 1912 and was now on her wedding journey. Together they boarded the Titanic in Cherbourg and occupied cabin number C65.

Like many other passangers after the collisions, María and her husband did not know what to do. They did not speak english and stood confused outside the crowd. Countess of Rothes saw the lonely couple and came up to them. The Countess gave a quick explaination in french, Victor let María go and stepped back. María and her maid stepped into lifeboat number 8 that contained 27 people.

During the night María screamed for Victor until the Countess of Rothes could not stand it any longer. She sat down next to her and did her best to cheer her up.

Victor went down with the Titanic.

María died in 1972.
