Marjorie Charlotte "Lottie" Collyer

Marjorie was born in 1904. Together with her mother and father she boarded as a second class passanger at Southampton.

Marjorie was asleep when Titanic hit the iceberg, but awoke by the sound of feet in the corridor. Her father went up on deck to see what was the matter but Marjorie's mother suspected something wrong and begun to dress her. She then took Marjorie by the hand and led her up to the boatdeck. In the middle of the way up, Marjorie begun to cry for her doll but they could not go back. Up on deck they were reunited with Marjories father and an officer that told them to put their lifebelts on. But Marjorie did not care, all she wanted was her doll that had been a christmas present.

Then two men put Marjorie in a lifeboat and was followed by her mother. Her father kissed them both. The lifeboat was number 14 and carried 39 people. Several men jumped into the lifeboat and landed on top of the women. The officer in charge of the lifeboat carried a gun and threatend to shoot if any men jumped into the boat. Marjorie claimed that another jumped and was shot. Even thogh Marjorie had no memory of it, her mother have stated that Marjorie cried out Dont Shoot!. When the boat was rowing away from the ship Marjorie could hear the band play Nearer My God To Thee. She also heard a lot of people crying and saw people kneeling down praying.

Marjories mother sat close to one of the sailors with the oars. An oar was caught in her hair and tore big pieces of it. During the night Marjorie cried over her doll that was left of the ship, left in the water getting all soaked.

Marjorie's father went down with the Titanic.

Marjorie died in 1965.
