Biography
James Wesley Marsters was born on August 20th 1962 in Greenville, California. He grew up in Modesto. And he currently lives in Los Angeles. His father used to be a minister. James has one brother, Paul Marsters and one sister, Susan Marsters.
James graduated from Davis High School and attended the prestigious Julliard, the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and the American Conservatory Theatre. But they kicked him out after two years. He spent about 10 years doing stage work and performed in various plays in New York, Chicago, and Seattle before finally moving to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in film and television acting.
After landing a few guest spots on shows like "Northern Exposure" and "Moloney", his big breakthrough came in 1997 with his appearance as bleached blond British vampire Spike on the WB's hit show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Originally only hired for a few episodes, James quickly captured the hearts of a legion of fans, and he has been a regular on the show since its fourth season and had a long-term contract. Buffy stopped after the seventh season and James is now appearing Buffy's spin-off series Angel.
Besides working on "Buffy" and "Angel", James Marsters has guest-starred on a number of other tv shows like "Millennium", "Strange Frequency" and Gene Roddenberry's "Andromeda", and he's also worked on a few movies. James has big role in the movie by Amber Benson who played Tara in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" called "Chance" and he had a small role in the 1999 remake of "The House On Haunted Hill". And a major role in an independent movie called "Winding Roads". Moreover, he has done some stage work in Los Angeles.
His other talents include painting, playing guitar and singing, which he occasionally did in public with his band called Ghost of the Robot. The members of GOTR were called Charlie DeMars, Steve Sellers, Kevin MacPherson, Sean Hutchinson and James of course. Aaron Anderson, who also was a member of the band, has left for a mission for about two years. Sean Hutchinson replaced him. Their first CD is called "Mad Brilliant" and their second album will be titled "Gods of The Radio". But on the 14th of June James announced that he had dissolved the band. And that was the end of their almost 2 year during time as a band. But James continious to make music, in March 2005 his first solo album, which will also have some songs from second Ghost of the Robot album on it, will be released.
