x x x x x evangeline lilly; As you probably know, this Canadian native's role as Kate on Lost is her first major speaking role anywhere, a chance few, if any, would've taken. Lucky for us, JJ Abrams did, and now Evey's on her way to an acting career! Evangeline was born on August 3, 1979, in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. She was approached by a modeling agent on the streets of British Columbia, but turned down his offer (he gave her his card) in favor of pursuing a career as a missionary, work she'd been doing since age 14. When later attending college at the University of British Columbia, she changed her mind and did some commercial work to help pay for tuition and expenses. A friend encouraged her to purse acting, telling her she was afraid of her own success, and Evey took a chance and sent an audition tape to JJ Abrams. He called and asked her to test for ABC execs, and she got the part! evey quotes; On her role on Lost/her acting career: "It totally floored me. I was just enjoying the auditions so much, I forgot there was an end result." "One of my closest friends said to me one day, 'What are you afraid of? ... I think you're afraid of success.' " "I feel really intimidated and out of my league." "I was so unprepared. I've been shocked by the warmth and the generosity and the kindness and the giving of all the people. ... I'm still in that enamored stage where I'm in love with the industry." About Matthew Fox: "He's such a warm person." "I am not qualified to carry a show. This guy has carried two series (Party of Five and Haunted). I can ride on his back a little and let him carry the show, and that was a great relief." |
