Goran Visnjic to Star in Doctor Sleep BBC Films, May 2001 by ? Goran Visnjic - Dr Luka Kovac in hit drama series ER - is to play a hypnotherapist with telepathic powers in the chilling psychological thriller, Doctor Sleep, which has just started filming in London. Visnjic plays Dr Michael Strother, who gets flashes of the inside of his patients’ minds. Whilst trying to help a detective (played by Shirley Henderson) stop smoking, he sees in her mind a young girl floating below the surface of a stream. He is soon caught up in the dtective’s pursuit of a ritualistic killer who believes he has found the secret of immortality. Although the girl has managed to escape from him, she has been struck mute by her trauma. Only Michael can get at the terrible images locked in her mind, and provide a clue as to the whereabouts of the killer. Miranda Otto plays Strother’s wife Clara, and the film also stars Paddy Considine and Corin Redgrave. It is directed by Nick Willing (‘Photographing Fairies’) and produced by Michele Camarda, whose credits include ‘Wonderland’, ‘Born Romantic’, ‘This Year’s Love’ and ‘Photographing Fairies’. 'Doctor Sleep' is based on the novel by Madison Smartt Bell. Miranda Otto plays Eowyn in Peter Jackson’s eagerly-awaited ‘Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring’. She also played Mary Feur in Robert Zemeckis’ thriller ‘What Lies Beneath’ with Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer.
