The following are our Rules and Guidelines for being hosted:
- All celebrity related fansites (including sites for TV shows, movies and music artists) are currently being accepted. Media only sites will be accepted on a case by case basis, depending on the popularity of your topic and your willingness to include multiple ad codes. If you are looking to have a design and/or personal site hosted, you must already be a Fan Sites Network Hostee. It is one of our perks for being a member.
- Media files ARE permitted on our servers provided you follow these guidelines:
- All files over 20 Mb. MUST be zipped.
- NO files over 100Mb. are permitted.
- You will have the option of installing a YouTube clone script (like PHPmotion) to manage your media. Maximum file sizes for .flv files are 150Mbs.
- To help pay for the dedicated servers that host The Fan Sites Network, you will be required to use an ad code on your site. You will be given a simple code to place on the top fold of all of your webpages that will display a banner via server side includes. Our currently supported ad sizes are 728×90 “leaderboard”, 160×600 “skyscraper” and 300×250 “video unit”. If your site uses frames, the banner needs to be inside the frame and at the TOP of the individual pages! Click here to see an example of the correct way to include your ad code. No other commission ads are permitted on your site.
- Site designs must be extraordinary. Only the best will be accepted.
- Sites must be updated on a regular basis. Any site not updated after 4 months will be deleted or archived unless an explanation is given. (You will be notified before your site is deleted.)
- If you need a break and decide to put your site on hiatus, you will need to leave the site open for people to browse while it is not being updated. Sites that are closed for a hiatus will be deleted after 3 days.
- Sites will at no time represent themselves as being more than a hosted affiliate of The Fan Sites Network.
- All webmasters shall take full responsibility for their site’s content and any of it’s wrong doings.
- Do not submit images or sites wherein the picture content has been illegally downloaded and therefore stolen from commercial sites or other commercial sources.
- Pornography, Warez and other inappropriate materials of that nature are not allowed. You can upload video and audio files featuring your celebrity, but please keep the file sizes reasonable (try: zipping files before upload, converting to Real Media files for maximum compression, etc.).
- All sites are automatically backed up weekly but The Fan Sites Network does not guarantee these backups. Site owners are responsible for backing their sites up on a regular basis in case server problems arise.
- If a domain name is purchased for your site, the site’s content must reside on that domain name for the period of the domain name’s registration (one year). Agreements for the transfer of The Fan Sites Network owned domain names will be made on a case by case basis.
- If a site is found in violation of any of the above Rules/Guidelines, the account will be immediately terminated without notice or consent. We reserve the right for any reason to edit, move, remove or refuse without notice any contents maintained in a web site directory this includes accounts, files, web pages.
- If you plan on moving your site to a new host, please let us know ASAP so we can allocate server space and insure you have a working backup.
- No shortcut re-direct links please. Your address at fan-sites.org also helps to promote the Network to other Webmasters.
The Fan Sites Network may revise these terms of use by updating this page at any time. You agree that in the event any portion of these Site terms of use are found to be unenforceable, the remainder of these Site terms and conditions shall remain in full force and effect. By using this Site you agree to be bound by any such revisions and should therefore periodically visit this page and keep your email address updated to determine the then current terms of use to which you are bound.
In the case of any inconsistencies between the terms outlined above and the Terms of Use, the Terms of Use shall rule.
