Why do I have to put ads up on my site?
All sites are required to help generate revenue for the network by placing an ad code on every page of their site. All money generated goes right back into the hosting features of the network and goes towards helping the network to grow by upgrading and purchasing new servers.

What kind of ads do you use?
The Fan Sites Network is currently using the following ad sizes:
- 728×90 leaderboard
- 160×600 skyscraper
- 300×250 video unit
The codes are already located in your /ad/ folder. You need to make sure you are linking to them correctly:
300×250: (the best converting and my favorite) ABOVE the fold (400px or less from the top of your pages), please use the code in this link:

http://www.fan-sites.org/largead.txtPlease do NOT rename your ad codes! (/ad/galleryad.html, /ad/mainpagead.html, etc.) will no longer be correct. You need to be specific so I know exactly what size your site is using when I view your /ad/ folder.
We are currently running ads from Celebuzz and Buzznet along with Google Adsense ads. If you prefer Google Adsense ads only, please PM me at the forum for more information.

Where does my ad code have to be?
All ad codes must be ABOVE the fold on ALL pages of your website. The ads we use rely on click-through ratios to gauge how profitable our network is to their company. If we go below a certain click-through ratio, we are in danger of being dropped from their ad network. Ad networks that accept celebrity sites are few and far between, so we need to stay in their good graces. No ad revenue means no Fan Sites Network.

My site uses frames. Where should I put my ad code?
If your site uses frames, the banner needs to be inside the frame and at the TOP of the individual pages. Click here to see an example of the correct way to include your ad code.

Exactly how do I add the banner code to my pages?
You are given a specific CODE to add to your pages in your initial welcome letter. YOU NEED TO CUT AND PASTE THAT CODE to your pages. Do NOT view the source of the code and copy it. The reason you are given a code to post via server side includes or I-Frame is because our ad companies will be changing from time to time and having all hostees link to one file cuts down on the work load for me. If this doesn’t make sense to you and you still can’t figure out why you don’t have the right banners up, come over to the Forums and ask your question and I will do my best to explain this further.

Can I customize my ad code?
Yes! You are able to customize your Google ad code to match your layout.
-
Can I use a different ad code size on my pages?
Yes, on a case by case basis. Please drop me a PM at the forum so we can discuss options.

Are there rules for ads on galleries?
Do they need a leaderboard ad, or is an normal video unit enough?A normal video until works great, but leaderboards and skyscrappers are also acceptable.
