Feb 9 4×10: “Something Nice Back Home” 0
Filed in: Category 1

Juliet tries to wake up Jack, but there’s something wrong with him. He doesn’t seem well. He stumbles out of his tent as a loud argument ensues on the beach. A group of angry survivors are going at Faraday and Charlotte. Jack tries to calm everyone down. He assures them they will be rescued, but suddenly he collapses.

WHOOSH to Jack in a nice, comfy bed when the phone rings and wakes him up. It’s his assistant reminding him of his schedule changes. Jack gets up and goes into the bathroom. A woman in the shower tells him she bought him a new razor. She’s not a fan of his growing beard. The shower stops and out steps Kate. Jack hands her a towel and they kiss. It’s the future, and Jack and Kate are living together.

WHOOSH to the island where Sawyer, Claire, Aaron and Miles trek through the jungle on their way back to the beach camp when Miles suddenly stops. He asks them who Danielle and Karl are because he’s standing on top of them. Miles drops down and starts digging, uncovering their bodies. Sawyer asks if Miles’ buddies killed them, but Miles says he didn’t sign up for this.

At the beach, Juliet talks to Jack. He thinks it’s food poisoning. Juliet disagrees. She makes him lift his shirt, and she presses on his side. Jack grimaces in pain. It’s his appendix and it hasn’t ruptured. Yet. Juliet considers it and states the simple, pragmatic reality. They have to take it out.

Juliet asks Sun to go to the medical station for equipment, but Sun doesn’t know what the supplies look like. Faraday knows what the equipment is, so he offers to go with her. Jin and Charlotte go, too. Kate asks why they don’t just take Jack to the medical station, and Juliet tells her if they move him his appendix might rupture. If that happens, Jack will die.

WHOOSH to Jack reading Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland to Aaron as he falls asleep. Jack tucks Aaron in and quietly shuts the door. Kate stands in the hallway smiling. Jack’s a natural. She likes seeing him with Aaron. She’s glad he changed his mind. She’s glad he’s there. Jack picks Kate up and takes her into the bedroom.

WHOOSH to the beach where Bernard helps prepare a surgery table. Rose is concerned why Jack got sick. Bernard says it’s just bad luck, but Rose isn’t convinced. The day before they’re supposed to be rescued, the guy they count on suddenly comes down with a life threatening condition? Bernard says people get sick. Not here, Rose reminds him. Here they get better.

As Juliet preps Jack for the surgery, Jack says he wants to talk her through it. He doesn’t want to be unconscious. They can numb the area with lidocaine and Kate can hold a mirror up so he can watch. Juliet suggests Bernard since he’s a dentist and has medical experience, but Jack insists on it being Kate. Juliet says okay.

WHOOSH to Jack in his doctor’s offices as he walks a patient out. Another doctor comes up and asks for his opinion on an x-ray, and Jack catches a glimpse of a man sitting in the reception area who looks a lot like Christian Shephard, Jack’s father. But Christian is dead. Before Jack can get a second look, the man is out the door and gone. Then the receptionist gets Jack’s attention. A doctor from Santa Rosa needs to talk to him.

Kate is out collecting bananas when she comes across a copy of the book Waterhsip Down on the beach. She looks over to find Sawyer taking a swim. He emerges naked from the surf and shamelessly flirts with her. As Kate questions if his tactics work on all the girls, we FLASHBACK to Sawyer in bed with a woman named Jessica ? and his southern charm has certainly worked its magic this time around. They bask in the afterglow and seem very much in love. But Sawyer hops out of bed, claiming that he’s late for a meeting. When he reaches for his briefcase, it spills open, revealing bundles of cash.

Back in the jungle, Sawyer approaches the hiding spot where he keeps his stash and finds Boone going through his things. Off Boone’s scared expression we go to the caves, where Jack tends to Sayid’s head wound as Sayid explains that whoever hit him also destroyed the transceiver. Sayid vows to find the person responsible. Boone stumbles back into camp, bloody and beaten. He explains that Shannon has asthma and has run out of refills for her inhaler. He went to see Sawyer because he caught him reading Waterhsip Down ? a book that Boone had in his bag; the same bag that carried the refills. Boone tells Jack that Sawyer refused to give up the refills and attacked him.

On the beach, Charlie delivers water to Claire. He tells her that he’s worried about her and attempts to talk her into moving to the caves. But Claire wants to stay on the beach, holding onto hope of rescue.

MATTHEW FOX SAYS LOST IS LAST TV THING HE DOES

Full interview in Men’s Health April issue, on sale now

On Lost
“I’m pretty sure this will be the last thing television thing I do.”

On his heroes
“Steve McQueen was pretty fucking cool. He was an action guy and a man of few words and he liked his roles like that. He didn’t apologize for being slightly prickish at times.”

On clothes
“I like stuff to be sort of worn and used and very comfortable. I keep clothes that I like for a very long time, and I wear them way past the point they are supposed to be worn.”

On enjoyment
“I have a hard time enjoying something unless I am good at it…I wish it weren’t so.”

Actor Jeffrey Donovan, best-known to New Zealand TV audiences as Michael Westen in TV3?s hit series Burn Notice, has packed a lot into his 40 years.

Not only has he appeared in practically every cop/forensic series made in the past decade (the US version of Touching Evil, CSI: Miami, Homicide etc) but he has also played Hamlet on stage and appeared in numerous off-Broadway hits, including The Glory of Living opposite Kiwi Anna Paquin.

His film credits are just as impressive, culminating in an appearance as a bad guy police chief in the recently released Changeling, starring Angelina Jolie and directed by Clint Eastwood.

Somehow he’s also found time to visit the South Island although, in 2002, few people would have recognised the actor.
